Adopt-A-Bubbe: Former Soviet Union
In the Former Soviet Union, JDC is serving the elderly Jewish population that lives below the poverty line. They face isolation, poverty, and deteriorating health, and live in a society where institutionalized care or old-age homes are simply not available.
In 2011, 159,986 elderly Jews in 2,681 locations across the region received critical services from 161 JDC-established Hesed relief centers and other organizations.
Costs to provide services to elderly in the Former Soviet Union continues to increase, and the need is growing as well. We’re doing a lot, but there is more to be done.
JDC is committed to supporting babushkas, bubbes and zadis. You can show your support below.
