Spain has a rich and dramatic Jewish history. Learn how the Jewish community has remained intact for centuries despite a tumultuous history and witness the resurgence of young Jewish life in Spain today thanks to the incredible work of organizations such as Junction. Inside Jewish Spain is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn about JDC's vital work with Jewish community building organizations in Europe.

About Junction: Junction, an initiative of the JDC, the Schusterman Foundation, and YESOD, seeks to empower young Jewish adults and professionals to engage with the pan-European Jewish community by providing innovative international opportunities that connect them to each other and to meaningful, relevant, and forward-looking Jewish spaces. Junction envisions diverse experiences for European Jews who are dynamic, inspired, and innovative, and takes an active part in pan-European Jewry in order to foster global Jewish life, relevant for the present and future.

Itinerary Highlights Include:

  • Explore the sites in Madrid, Toledo, and Barcelona.
  • Gain a first-hand understanding of the Jewish community's history and current challenges through meaningful site visits and briefings with JDC professionals and local community leaders.
  • Participate in a Global Jewish summit alongside Junction Europe and network with Jewish European peers.
  • Connect with the Jewish community in Spain and experience the unique Sephardic culture.
  • Sample the local cuisine and culture.

Trip Dates: November 6-12, 2017

Participation Fee: $2,000 per person (Global Leadership Grants available)*

The trip cost includes:

  • Local transportation within Spain
  • Meals
  • Hotel accommodations (note: the participation fee covers accommodations in double occupancy rooms)
  • Briefings, tours, and leisure activities
  • Medical and emergency evacuation insurance

Flight Details:  Participants will be responsible for booking their own round-trip airfare to Madrid and departing from Barcelona. Travel logistics details will be shared upon notification of acceptance.
